Janice (sitting in the chair with Roxie) can answer questions ranging from "Where can I find the perfect t-shirt?" to "What's the best time and place to see eagles?" Janice enjoys baking pies and spoiling Greta, Sadie, and Roxie. Jackson House benefits from Janice's artistic touch at Christmas and throughout the year.

Hope (on the floor with Greta and Sadie) grew up in Alton in the home that is now Jackson House. She left her job as a reference librarian in the Chicago area to open Jackson House in 1993. She loves dogs, is a voracious reader, and enjoys visiting friends and family in Chicago, New Orleans, and Phoenix.

Sadie is a long-haired dachshund who came to live at Jackson House from a Riverbend Area shelter in August 2004. She loves to run and jump and enjoys watching the world go by from her special lookout point on the fire escape landing.
Greta is a miniature long-haired dachshund who came to live at Jackson House just before Valentines Day of 2002. She loves to run up and down stairs and romp with Sadie and Roxie. When excited she sings out an enthusiastic "woo! woo!"

Roxie is a vivacious Shih tzu who came from the Riverbend Animal Shelter to live at Jackson House in August 2006 and immediately became best friends with Greta and Sadie. After a demanding day of begging for people food and turning up her tiny nose at healthy dog food, "Rox the Fox" likes to relax in the "frog legs" position characteristic of her limber breed.

H.C. is a gracious bronze dachshund created by Joy Kroeger Beckner of Chesterfield MO. She has that rare combination of qualities: elegance and low maintenance, requiring only an occasional dusting to preserve her loveliness.
t seems to us that the house has a soothing, charming personality of its own. Certainly, there is a sense of peace and timelessness about the place that melts away twenty-first century cares and concerns. As soon as you arrive you'll see what we mean, and you'll leave refreshed and relaxed.
